Hydraulic Steering
Put this unit on my hard steering 115 Optimax on my fishing boat. Wow what a difference and so easy to install! Quality was way better than expected for this very reasonably priced unit, I highly recommend this product for your steering upgrade.

A quality product that fitted easily and replaced a mechanical steering on a Lexington 22’ pontoon boat with 115 susuki. - the 24’ hydraulic hose was just right length The difference in steering torque is very noticeable and a very worthwhile upgrade - well pleased with my purchase.

I found the instillation was very easy but the final step when bleeding the air out was a bit of trouble. I think a valve (like the valves on the motor end) at the helm to close off the fluid and keep a head on the fluid level would help a lot

Best thing that I have installed on my boat, just love it!
I would recommend this hydraulic steering to anyone who has cable steering.
The cost is less than half of Seastar/Baystar.

Pretty much seastar
This is a one year review. Works just as a sea star would. No problems what so ever. Install was easy too.

2006 Mercury 115 fourstroke
Everything fits perfect. Works flawless. Install was fairly easy. You'll have to be handy with basic tools. Be patient working the air out of the system, it'll take some time. Turn the wheel lock to lock and watch the air bubbles till they're gone. Make sure you leave enough hydraulic line to loop down and around. The ram moves with the lines side to side.

Vevor 150 HP hydraulic system
Had cable steering in my 2014 Frontier bay boat going to my 90 HP Yamaha. The cable was on its last legs so I ordered this Vevor hydraulic steering kit. There were a couple issues I had to deal with on the install to make it work, and none of the issues related to the hydraulic kit itself. When I tried to remove my steering wheel it was corroded onto the cable helm shaft.....this would have been a problem if not for a sawzall to cut the old shaft....I did try heating the shaft with a torch, but it was not coming off. Once I had the steering wheel off I used a socket and a couple sledge hammers to drive the old cut shaft out of the steering wheel. Now I only had to remove the old cable.....Oh rats! the bend at the transom wasn't going to allow that to be done easily so this time I took a pneumatic cutting wheel and cut the cable in two (sawzall would not cut the cable easily). Taped a cord onto the cable and pulled it out at the transom and used the cord to pull the new hydraulic line back through up to the console. Used some lube on the hydraulic line to make pulling it easier. I shortened the hydraulic lines and then put the included hydraulic fittings on......the directions weren't much help for anything else but for putting the hydraulic fittings onto the hose they were spot on......make sure you read that part...... The cylinder hookup to the motor itself went well, but beware: It can be attached to the motor upside down (ask me how I know) Bleeding the line was expensive (used Seastar fluid) I should have captured it into another clean container to strain and reuse but I did not (2 quarts at $30 per quart). Can now turn the steering wheel with one finger when it used to be both arms working hard with the old cable. Hoping to get some good use out of it without issue........
