I wanted to give this brand a try so I ordered the 172gph, 30g. The instructions are a bit hard to follow. I think they are for the larger filters because it showed 5 trays and some of the parts I had weren’t in the photos but I figured it out. The instructions say to prime 2-4 times to get the water flow going. I had to prime way more than that to get any flow. They don’t sell spare parts (mostly thinking about the UV bulb, but I’m not sure if 8W will do much anyway) but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. The 2 media trays are thin and small - I don’t think they are even 2” high and the trays are maybe 6” x 6” due to the UV bulb going through them so there’s even less room for media. I didn’t see any pics of the trays in their product add but they do have pics of the foam with the UV bulb cutout and you can see how little room there would be). Having a huge amount of bio media and sponges isn’t going to happen. I knew the trays would be 6 x 6 ish but I thought they’d be deeper. Bottom line is I gave this product 4 stars but it’s more like 3.5 due to being unable to get lots of media in those trays. Other people might not care but I thought it was worth mentioning. And yes, it’s SO quiet. It’s only been running 2 months and I haven’t stopped it to look inside so I’m not sure about water leakage or any maintenance stuff yet. Water is clear. Filter is doing what it’s suppose to do. I just bought the one with 5 trays for up to 250g, so I guess I would recommend this brand. I’ll edit this review if it turns out to be a POS but so far, so good.

The filter has been quiet and easy to use. It has done an adequate job of cleaning my 75g cichlid tank with a marineland 450. Without the marineland, this filter cannot keep up. I tested the flow rate with the filter at full flow, and it was moving appropriately 220 gallons/hour, not 660. Still a good filter, especially for the price, just not as strong as advertised.

Works wonderful for the price puts my fx2 in the dust

Just got the aquarium setup and having problems getting the filter to take in water, When using the orange pump the water doesn't go into the filter, the water gets so far in the lines and when I stop pumping water leaves the lines. doesn't seem to have enough suction, I gave it a 4 as it was easy to put together but I not totally happy with it if it wont work

Been using for a month with a 24 year old red earred slider and so far the filter works great. Tank is super clear and way cleaner than with other filters. Start up was easy and I really like how I can use what filter media I choose. It runs super quiet. The only issue I have is the hoses are short. For a filter meant for 200+ gallons the hoses aren't long enough to reach both ends of the tank.

It is very well made. My only negative is the flow rate is a bit low. The outlet is only 24" head height. Its quiet and filters as designed.

This filter is on my 75g turtle tank. It has kept the water crystal clear for over a month and a half with one water change due to my error of dropping 7x the amount of food during a feeding. My only complaint is the hoses were not long enough to reach the far side with my setup. And spray bar seems weaker than I expected Very quiet, enormous amount of media and space for additional. Uv light seems to be controlling algae growth. Turtles are dirty so we upgraded to this size but essentially it's doing just as well as my fx4 on my 75g downstairs. I only rated 4 bc I think the attachments could be of better quality but are holding up fine.

Biggest problem with this filter is not being able to buy refills for it. Canister is in all shape, very difficult to find refill components when needed vevor should stock
