Good little lathe for the price
This lathe was my first purchase from Vevor Strongly recommend adding a quick change tool post with height adjustment to the cart as the first upgrade . The stock tool post will work for basic tuning needs but you will need to buy smaller tooling to work on the stock tool post . Overall I’m pretty happy about my purchase and was able to start making various parts for my current project. I have a couple more up coming parts to make for my project that will need some tail stock attachments and I am looking forward to my next tool purchase .

Overall good product, had one minor issue when the item arrived, the magnet for the RPM sensor was missing, I contacted customer support and they took care of the issue by sending me not one replacement magnet, but grisly sent me 5. I would recommend this induct.

Great mini-lathe for the money.

This lathe is great for beginners, but also remember what you're buying. This is a project dressed up as a lathe, it has many problems that you can actually fix with the lathe itself, you can turn it's own parts for it fairly easy. Out of the box you need to clean up everything, tighten gibs, oil ways and gears. as the lathe comes, everything is loose and sloppy, but you can tighten gibs and screws to make it pretty tight and rigid. I've turned brass, aluminum, copper, mild steel and stainless steel with this thing and it's pretty accurate out the box, my tail stock was perfectly dead center when it arrived which was great. I didn't replace the motor or any large modifications, the lathe itself can turn all this. But if you get a new motor and replace the spindle bearings with angular contact bearings, it can take MUCH larger Depth of Cuts and just be all around even better than original. These are on my todo list. You'll spend more in tooling than you will the lathe, trust me, but if you want something to tinker with and learn from, this is the lathe for you. At the end of your journey of fixing it up, removing slop, making parts for the lathe itself, you'll be left with a very useful tool that you won't regret. But it's a rough road at first, especially without tools. The tools I got are: Tail stock tools: • Woodworking MT2 Heavy Duty Live Tailstock Center $20.27 • Accusize Industrial Tools 5pc ANSI M42 (H.S.S. + 8% Cobalt) Center Drill Set, 0556-5500 $25.62 • WEN LA164K 5/8-Inch Keyed Drill Chuck with MT2 Arbor Taper $17.08 ______ Cutting tools: • Gluwoer 1/2" SRACR/L1212H06 Lathe Turning Holders Lathe Turning & Profiling Tool Holder,12PCS Kit-2PCS Metal Lathe Tools Holder 10PCS RCMT0602 Round Carbide Milling Insert for Metal Steel $26.35 • Carbide Lathe Tools -Lathe Threading Tool Turning Holder - Boring Bars SNR0008K11 / SNR0010K11 / SNR0012M11 with 3 Indexable Carbide Inserts 11IR A60 for Lathe Turning Tool $26.99 (interal threading tools) • Carbide Lathe Tool

Mini Lathe

This is a very capable machine for the price. You will need to have some basic mechanical aptitude to set it up correctly and fine tune the machine as it is workable right out of the box but not great. After 3-4 hours of re-assembly, sanding down burrs, flattening certain slides with a stone, this machine is excellent. It machined a grade 5 bolt steel without issue. Very impressed

Great bargain
This thing is great for the price. You can turn aluminum brass and derlin right off the bat. And with a few of the mods showcased on youtube you can cut basically anything to a decent enough standard. This is not a precision machine, but for the price. No reasonable person would expect it to be. Great bargain

Initial review, great little machine!
I'll be writing this review from the perspective as a new lathe user, and a hobbyist. Mileage may vary for more professional users. I want to work both wood and metal; i have limited (very limited) space, and won't be working on larger things. The largest pieces would be 2.5"x2.5"x12" wood spindles to cut them to cylindrical; and metal pieces much smaller. I was impressed by the packaging; it was sturdy and well packed in a wood crate. Even though the courier delivered it on it's end, despite a very clear "THIS WAY UP" printed on the front, the lathe was bolted to the wooden base and didn't move a millmeter and all was well. As with any machine on the cheaper side of the market, it needed an initial cleanup, but surprisingly little compared to other tools i've bought. took apart the cross slide, wiped and brushed down all the parts, greased the screw shaft and gear teeth, oiled the surfaces, and it was ready to go! Within expectations for this cost, the surfaces were pretty good. For some there's pitting/scratches, but not enough to get in the way. the headstock seems to run true and without vibration; the chuck was quite a bit beefier than i expected, and the jaws move well and firmly grasp, no noticeable slack. The tail stock appears to clamp itself into the center very well. The cross slide has a little takeup when changing direction, but this being a manual lathe, not too concerned about backlash/slop. Can move in all directions with good accuracy. Built a wood tool rest to clamp onto the cross slide, and then tried using hand tools, worked great for wood too. Tested some mild steel, and aluminum, also great cuts first try. Well as great as a noob would expect. All in all, great tool for the price, as long as you have your expectations in the right place. Very happy with purchase. Will update if time proves different.

This little lath works as advertised. Only issue is the plastic drive gears seem a little weak and tool post is very basic.

It is a much better quality than I expected The Center lock on the tail stock was missing a clip that hold the lock mechanism in place. I still need to find out how to adjust the saddle. It is tight at the chuck but loose at the tail stock.

EXCELLENT! 109 lb wood crate arrived from VEVOR, Delta, BC to Toronto w Free Shipping via Fedex Ground in 5 Days! (Shipped day after order so 6 Days A Wed. to next Tue.). INCREDIBLE! No cost above checkout price. Estimate was 10 to 16 bus. days. Minor crate damage: 1 of 4 square 4" wooden bottom blocks knocked off, 2 pcs of side stripping broke off Lathe condition: Working! Problem Feedback: 1. Motor mount lock nuts were loose. Bolts were tight, not bent (very vulnerable in shipping) mount should be reinforced more, belt was in line, feed engages and disengages. 3. Gears: 3 pairs of plastic gears are duplicates. Cannot be used for Imperial threads as advertised with these gears. Not good. No 72 tooth gear(s). Gears should be specified in detail. Need to buy set of metal gears. 2. Cracked plastic chuck shield by hinge and when swinging it down it hits controller box (not aligned). Should be aluminum. 3. Should come with some basic cutting tools! 4. Manual is useless. TOC refers to page with Specifications but it is just a blow up image with labeled parts. I found drill chuck and MT2 taper for tailstock (and more) at Busy Bee Tools. It was clean and Fwd Rev and Var. speed work. Chuck face jaws close tight but the 3 surfaces while seem aligned have ground angles that do not match. The 2 black adjustment wheels have a lot of slop and look plastic. Overall, a great find and I took a chance because the reviews here made clear the various risks and value. To get this from a CDN source they wanted $175 to deliver LOCALLY and I couldn't even find an outlet with stock. First VEVOR order of MANY more!
